Poetry Absurdity: The Bullfrog Potion

I have something that will make you jump.

I have something that will make you croak.

Everybody wants it—

The bullfrog potion.

Green liquid.

Corked bottle.

Fits in your pocket.

A sip here.

A sip there.

A sip everywhere—

The bullfrog potion.

Tangy aftertaste.

Smells like a swamp.

It may give you warts.

None of that matters!

The encouragement you feel.

The leap in your step.

You know what I’m talking about.

I got what you need—

The bullfrog potion.

That ache you desire.

That burning in your throat.

That lust in your heart.

You know what to do.

Reach in your pocket.

Grab the small bottle.

Pop the cork.

It’s everything you need—

The bullfrog potion.

  1. I LOVE frogs and especially Bull Frogs..they are tremendous, their size, their croak I want to kiss one and hope, against all hope it turns into my longed for prince…I have kissed quite a few frogs in my life that turned out to be imposters for the real thing…the real thing is difficult to get to as the lillypad he often sits on does not seem to hold my weight..I have to slim down even more to be able to reach his lovely body and look right into his soul before kissing him. xxx so there..maybe you have made a potion out of my prince….He will haunt you in your nightmares xx.

    1. Wait — were you smooching toads? Because…they give you warts! and, last, but not least — they sure as hell don’t transform into any of kind prince, because they lack royal blood (I think).

  2. Lol. So, this potion makes you croak?? But like a frog — this isn’t some suicidal concoction, right? Haha!! Is this the potion that allows you to jump really high when you’re jump roping?

      1. I have 5 pairs of Doc M’s! LOVE them to pieces. I thought you were wearing a pair when you were showing off your sword moves, but you made fun of me noticing your pocket knife, so I thought maybe to just zip it.

        Thanks! I am clever. 🙂

      2. I didn’t make fun of you — I simply observed how observant you were! I think my doc’s are triumph originals. Something like that. But you know what? A damn stick poked through my boot! I don’t know how it happened, but I’m amazed, and pissed.

      3. No — the stick drilled through the side of the boot and popped out the stitching…I think. I can still wear them — the damage is not visible — but the boot is no longer completely sealed from the elements.

      4. You’re so smart! I get mine off eBay for $50 including shipping….sometimes I’m lucky cuz Value Village has had some for $20. I wear a size 5, so it’s easier to score a pair since most women have larger feet.

      5. I wasn’t really trying to be thrifty — the boots used to cost no more than $80-100 (I think), but the price increased substantially. My size and color was the cheapest available at the time.

      6. Yes and it took me all damn day! I tossed pumpkin seeds in my garden, so I expect something wacky to grow next spring…that is…if the chipmunks don’t find them first!

      7. Ohhh ha! Sorry — yeah — ( I think you’re talking about the pumpkin…right?…or did they see the shadow photograph? Yes — she saw the image \”/). I tried photographing my niece’s shadow, but she wouldn’t let me. I don’t think they saw the pumpkin yet.

      8. I’m kinda losing steam, too. Long day today. That would’ve been a cute shadow pic of her and you 🙂 Darn!!
