Ephemerally Fleeting Moments

Moments never last; a sunset that bleeds gives way to the night.

Happiness or clouds— both are swept away by wind or emotion. Sometimes all we’re left with is a memory. If we’re fortunate; a photograph.

All around us short-lived events wilt away. So many…it’s difficult to express, or admire them all. I suppose you can say that’s what life is—a sunset being dimmed by our inevitable end. Throughout the image-gallery, you can see the evolution of clouds being sculpt by delicate windy pressure and sunlight. Eventually they faded away into an expanse of blue.

Why don’t these moments last? The flower that’s picked dies twice as fast.

We don’t appreciate what is stable. Anything that lasts has conformed to our daily expectations. Nothing is permanent. Somethings happen to survive a little longer than others. We’re blind to the things that deteriorate slowly, because our attention is lured to the fleeting; that which is a flicker in time. Happiness, sunsets—the events we can’t point to—only remember.

A cloud suffers and changes its shape into a form representing the forces acting upon it; a continuous relationship with a world that refuses to leave it alone. The events in our life shape us until there’s nothing left to sculpt.

Clouds rain. And we perish.
